Some common clutch problems are :
SLIP - Oil on the friction plate or a worn friction
plate causes the clutch to slip giving a partial or total loss of drive,
indicated by slower vehicle speed than normal.
JUDDER – Caused by a warped friction plate or
broken engine or gearbox mounts. The vehicle seems to shudder as it moves
from rest.
DRAG – Clutch cable not correctly adjusted will
cause drag making it difficult to obtain gear, especially in low gears.
Dual Mass Flywheel Issues
Common point of failure on modern diesels and petrol engine cars. Most common defects include rattling from the gearbox / clutch area when idling.
Vibration / feedback through clutch pedal when operating clutch.
Starting / starter motor problems due to debris from failing dual mass flywheel being attracted to magnets within starter motor.
Solid Flywheel Conversion
Some manufacturers now offer a solid flywheel conversion option therefore eliminating further dual mass flywheel problems.
